You only have about 9 months being pregnant so you might as well enjoy it because we both know someone or have personally experienced nightmarish pregnancy symptoms like fatigue, morning sickness (hugging the toilet) and other intense symptoms that make your time pregnant a displeasure instead of an enjoyable process for you, your family, and your baby…..right? 4) Fish- pay attention the current events and if fish in a certain area of the world have been exposed to pollutants please avoid eating those, ie: if salmon in Michigan were exposed to pollutants find out if the salmon you are buying is from that region. Also, you’ll want to avoid farm raised fish that have been corn fed and been subjected to harmful living. Lastly and most importantly is to avoid fish that have a higher chance of being exposed to mercury like swordfish, shark, or tuna.
5) Raw Eggs- which potentially run the risk of being exposed to salmonella poisoning. I’d hate for you to have to find out the hard way. It would be best for you and to your baby to avoid things like dressing made with raw eggs, sauces made with raw eggs, or mayo.

The Importance and Benefits of Self Discipline

Everyone acknowledges the importance of self-discipline, but how many do anything to improve it? People regard self-discipline as something requiring a lot of hard work, effort, discomfort and deprivation. This kind of thinking discourages one from making any effort to improve this ability.

The truth is that self-discipline is not so difficult to develop. There are various techniques for developing it, which everyone can follow. These techniques consist mainly of doing things that you avoid doing, or which you are too lazy to do. I am not speaking about major goals or actions, but about doing simple things in your day-today life. Here are a few examples:

  • If you want to read some gossip in the newspaper, don’t do that, even if your desire is strong.
  • When traveling by bus, get down one station before or after your destination.
  • You want to eat a piece of cake, and there are big and small slices. Take a small one, even if you wish to eat a bigger one.
  • Something or someone bothers you, and you instantly react angrily. Hold you reaction for a little while. This is not only a good exercise for self control, but delaying your reaction might take away the need to react al all, saving you anger, confrontation and lost time.
  • When you have an impulse to do something, especially if it is not really important, withhold this impulse and wait for another ten minutes.
  • When you decide to stop an exercise when you are working out, continue a little longer, before stopping.

These are just a few examples to let you understand how to bring more discipline into your life.

One of the main characteristics of self-discipline is the ability to forgo immediate gratification and pleasure, in favor of some greater gain, and this is exactly what the above-mentioned exercises do.

So why bother at all to develop this skill?

We are exposed to advertisements in newspapers, magazines and on TV, telling us to buy this or that.

We are affected by what people say and do.

We are constantly under social pressure at home, at work, and while being with friends. This makes us behave and act in ways that we don’t really want, or buy things we don’t need.

Discipline teaches us to control all these external influences and inner urges, enabling us to exercise self-control and inner strength. This does not make our life dull and uninteresting. On the contrary, we gain the inner strength to accomplish greater things in our life. We can do bigger things, and do better things. It makes us powerful.
